On Saturday December 1st, 2012 New York Lolita enthusiasts will host an affair that shall parallel the Rococo period en Grande ball: A formal festivity that celebrates the ‘winter’ seasons “International Lolita Day” and a day that is considered a true fashion holiday.

This exclusive event will be known as “Crystal Candyland”, and it will commemorate our 1st official International Lolita Day Winter Ball for the New York tri-state area.

All types of Lolita-styled fashionista are welcome, as this occasion is a date to dress in your finest frock and meet other fashion enthusiasts. Attendees are encourage to wear elaborate attire and take part in a styled masquerade party of the past.

A faire of scrumptious refreshments and delightful entertainment will be provided by the 2012 Crystal Candyland Committee, International Lolita Day NY event-organizers, as well as, event sponsors.

The first Lolita ensembles were witnessed during the late 70's and early 80's in the popular neighborhood of Tokyo, Japan called Harajuku.

Street closures within the trendy districts of Tokyo allowed creative, stylish, and artistic Japanese people to wear frocks inspired by historical clothing. Mainly derivative from aristocratic society and the western royal courts, Lolita fashion celebrated feminine ways and the lady-like composure of yesteryear.

The implementation of these fashion firsts quickly grew to be accepted as Avant Garde looks that would give the youth a break from the cultural conformity of conservative everyday Japanese life.

Now Japanese Lolita street fashion is an accepted alternative fashion subculture that has looks influenced by Baroque, Rococo and Victorian times.  The modern movement is now a subculture of many layers and artistic lifestyles. From the sweet pastel styled dress to the dark gothic flowing frocks, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

We are pleased that Lolita Fashion is now part of imported pop-culture and is celebrated by people all over the globe in Europe, as well as North and South America.

International Lolita Day is a multi-national holiday that is observed twice a year. Observance of these two days is for the first Saturday of June, as well as, the first Saturday of December. Lolita's are encouraged to socialize locally with one another at meetups and events to freely celebrate their seasonal Lolita wardrobe with pride.
